Arabic Coffee

Arabic coffee to me is a MUST after having guests over for a meal. If you have ever had it you would understand why..After a meal most of us will have horrible food breath(will not describe), so, Arabic coffee will make your breath smell like perfume after drinking it. The important thing to remember is to serve it in small cups otherwise your guests will be sprinting home instead of driving from all the caffeine. For those of you who are sensitive to caffeine, i do not advise this drink!

The best cup will come from lightly roasted, freshly ground, green coffee beans. Do not grind to a powder though, leave it a bit rough so that it can be poured through a strainer. Mix ground cardamom(as much as you like) and a small amount of saffron(optional) with the freshly ground coffee. Bring some water to boil in a kettle(1 ltr) and drop in 2 heaping tbs of the coffee mix and boil for 5 minutes only. Pour into thermos through a strainer/sieve and serve to guests in small coffee cups. If you like ALOT of sugar like me you can add sugar to one thermos and serve with no sugar in another thermos so guests have the choice...

To Chasing Children and Recipes I know this is old post but the way to find the beans that have not been roasted is at like Whole Foods. That's where I get mine and I can pan roast them if I want. Ps I love ur food blog too!
